    Collective Soul without Ross Childress is no soul collecting , ironically

  • @abilyn-si3yo
    @abilyn-si3yo 4 года назад

    Ed should have put his difference aside, he had to include childress in this, not to just mention it, that was an insult, childress had all the rights to be reunited with them this time, he was the co- founder of cv, he started playing with 3 members of the band back in '91 even before Will was officially included in the band back in '92, he was and is the best guitar player they had have, and he had co- write songs with them, it was almost like not having jason newsted getting the same recognition from Metallica, the personal stuff doesnt have anything to do with the recognition of this band for what they have achieved in all their active years, this wasn't the reward for best loyal friend , it was for georgia hall of fame, he had to be there.

    • @virada630
      @virada630 3 года назад

      Absolutely correct and i agree in some way however he did mention his name. What he did was just not immeasurable to the band. The disrespect just horrible. He can bang all the women in the world, the trust loyalty as band or maybe a friend. If they were? Sad coz I really like his playing. No disrespect that comes after him.

    Just another tragedy people will forget about in time. Donations will pour in, ceremonies will be had. Then the anniversarys will come. Nothing will change. Ross Childress gave Collective Soul have a unique sound. Gave them hit after hit, then.......NOTHING. They lost (obviously) there best musician and songwriter. They are the example of biting the nose to spite the face. Such a shame. The fact Ed can't admit this is just sad. I love this band....I spent my growing pains listening to them, for Ed to just glance over Ross is PATHETIC. He made you. Show some respect!

    • @dafunk39
      @dafunk39 9 лет назад

      Considering what Ross did to Ed you can't blame Ed at all. There was no way Ross could stay in the band. It's definitely one of the worst things that's happened to music, but it happened and there's no going back.

    • @Adrian_Stone
      @Adrian_Stone 9 лет назад

      TheBathy44 Sorry that's completely untrue, he didn't make Ed. Ed is Collective Soul or should I say Collective Soul is Ed. 95% of all the songs were written by him, hell, he even produced half the stuff as well. Next time check the songwriting credits before you go all postal. Better or worse their sound has simply evolved, artists wanna try new musical things or they get bored. Now that said, I love Ross' playing and sound - esp being a PRS guy but if he did to me what he did to Ed, I'm sorry you don't betray a friend/bandmate like that and expect a reward later.. He made his bed (pun intended) now lie in it.

    • @Nightmaircreative
      @Nightmaircreative 8 лет назад

      just because Ed was smart enough to put his name in the credits doesnt mean he wrote and produced it all by himself.. especially the last few albums. kind of ironic that a band with 20 yrs history would only have one member accredited to the creation of all those songs dont you think?

    • @ja8ames
      @ja8ames 7 лет назад

      Songwriting credits work a certain way; obviously the band develops the sound and the arrangements, but that doesn't mean that Ed isn't the guy who writes the melodies, chords and lyrics.

  • @dafunk39
    @dafunk39 10 лет назад

    Kinda obvious there won't be a reuniting with Childress the way Ed just blew past him as if he were the equivalent to a "key grip" in the movie credits! You wouldn't know from the way Ed mentioned him that he was so instrumental to the hooks and leads in the songs we love so much that put Collective Soul on the map.

    • @lgoff2002
      @lgoff2002 9 лет назад

      Ross Childress deserves ZERO credit,. What do you not get? This band was founded by the Roland's on a Christian based premise and Ross blew that crap straight out of the water..You want recognition for Ross? Go see The Ross Childress project! That's right! Didn't work , did it! Dude rode on coat tails and screwed people over. I am ashamed to carry his last name.

    • @dafunk39
      @dafunk39 9 лет назад

      Linda Sue, I was merely making a comment. If what everyone says is true, then of course he's a scumbag, but that doesn't diminish the fact that they were better with him because he was an important part of the band. 1) lead singer 2) songwriter 3) Lead guitar player. You can't deny that.

    • @Nightmaircreative
      @Nightmaircreative 9 лет назад

      Linda Sue i understand the sentiment behind your comment… esp in light of how Ross left the band but a few things come to mind. Ed didn't found the band on a christian premise - he has stated this time and time again in interviews over the last 25 yrs. They're preachers sons and that's as far as it went. Ed also didn't found the band.. Dean took Ed's 'demos' and sent them to a college station unknown to Ed, and suddenly he had to 'toss a band together' to play Woodstock II.. hence asking his brother, and his friends from church and the recording studio he worked at (Will's Dad).. Ross was indeed one of the talents of the group. Ed is a gifted writer and composer, but Ross brought guitar licks that nobody could dream of.. so give him some credit. And if you want to get really picky - Ross's solo project was not as successful as collective soul, but most solo projects arent. Ed's Sweet Tea Project is great - but nowhere near the world wide success of Collective Soul.. If U2, or The Stones or any other super group did solo stuff - most times it doesnt do as well.. the sum is greater than each man by himself. and finally.. if the band indeed was based on Christian objectives.. is not Forgiveness (and the title of one of my favourite CS songs btw) is not Forgiveness a christian mandate?
